A growing coalition of citizens from across California seeking common sense regulations to protect communities from the harmful consequences of Battery Energy Storage Fires. 12 counties so far, representing 21 million people
* CEQA IN JEOPARDY *
CEQA is the California Environmental Quality Act which was signed into law back in 1970. It has been the only way for communities to fight back against big polluters (and BESS developers). They’re now trying to kill CEQA with a bill, SB 607 (Weiner). Please contact the Senators below to register opposition to the bill. Here’s a letter written by a coalition of organizations (including ours) seeking to stop this terrible bill.

SUBJECT:
Please vote no on SB 607. Washington is already weakening environmental standards. Now is not the time to weaken ours.
BODY:
Dear Chair Caballero and Pro Tem McGuire,
As a resident of this great state of California, I’m alarmed by the far-reaching consequences of SB 607 (Wiener). This bill would undermine the California Environmental Quality Act during a critical time when we need robust protections to safeguard our environment and public health. The federal administration’s assault on environmental regulation is unprecedented, and it’s more important than ever that California stands strong in defending its own environmental standards. I implore you to use your leadership to oppose this misguided legislation.
Thank you for listening to my concerns.
Sincerely,
